Self Understanding is more than what the mind can comprehend. It is in it and of it egotism, a due process, a path one ascertains, a journey. This journey is an essential part of every human grounds life weather it is consciously or subconsciously travelled. In the short story, Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan Boyle, the characters of the vote counter and his booster station station Digby can be viewed as an fashion stupefy of this journey. The narrator of Greasy Lake is a nineteen year old boy who likes to believe that he and his friends ar poisonous. He in an elaborate way describes what he does and explains why he is bad. On their drive, they wreak into a 1957 Chevy they recognize as their friends, Tony Lovett. They think that Tony is with a girl getting intimate and Digby decides to barefaced the headlights and honk the schnoz to make a joke at Tony. This is also an example of arrogance and misunderstanding of being bad. As they see a figure emerging from the car, the narrator realizes that this is not Tony and quickly his prospect changes to fear and anxiety. The man comes out of the car and the narrator at one time labels this character as bad. The man is wearing greasy jeans and take aim hits. As the narrator gets out of his car, he accidentally drops his keys in the muff on the ground.
